Dear friends,

The Jewish Studies Department bade farewell to three teachers from school. Shanny Aronovich completed her Social Service program through activities related to judaism and zionism. Cynthia Nissan and Nimrod Tidhar also implemented activities in these areas. Nimrod returns to Israel after being in Mexico for two years. These are his words to Sefa:

Dear friends,

It was Independence Day 2017 in Israel and, instead of celebrating with my friends as we do each year with beers and BBQ, I drove from my house in Kiryat Uno to meet Malki in Jerusalem. I remember that I was filled with such excitement! I was excited and afraid, but in a good way of course.

Who is Malki? Can I deal with Mexican teenagers? Can I handle it in the teacher’s room? I never imagined myself as a teacher, and here I am, taking another step towards this, “jumping” into deep water. Malki and I met and the meeting lasted no more than five minutes; we understood each other from the start.

After a few months, I arrived to Mexico with my family and after a few days I started working in this school.  What can I tell you? The feeling was wonderful, exciting; my instincts were right! I could describe this period as a wonderful and special time for me and for my family. A very nice chapter in my life that I will write about in my SEFER HA HAIM.

A lot of thanks to the wonderful students of this school. Even more so, it was all of you who lifted me up and let me feel like I belonged. You made me feel like I was probably doing something right in this world.  I’ll never forget it, and I’ll never forget you.  So, I’m taking this opportunity to just say: thank you all.

Like most of the things in life, this school also has a core, and this school’s core is all of you. Good team work with good communication – this is what it’s all about.
Raquel, Malki, Lidia, Judith, Hana, Liat, Alex, Yael, Erika, Miriam, and… I’m sorry for not being able to mention you all. Keep on being such good and positive people. This school has very good energy so keep it like that. Keep educating wonderful students, generation after genaretion. I wish I could stay a little bit more, but I can’t and I’m more than happy to go back to my home, my family, my friends, my Humus…

I promise you all that when I come back again to visit Mexico, the “Sefaradi” school will be a must. Even before Costco!

With great love,

Nimrod Tidhar.
